Police raids: 10 illegal weapons dealers arrested during May

The police arrested 10 illegal weapon dealers from Lahore in May, announced DIG (Investigation) Ali Amir Malik at a press conference on Sunday.


Malik said that the dealers were arrested after raids on 45 weapon shops. He said that four weapon shops, one each in Daroghawala and Manga Mandi and two in Chungi Amar Sidhu, had been sealed after they were found operating with fake licences.

Malik said that 222 guns were recovered from those arrested. They included two 8mm rifles, nine 7mm rifles, two 0.244 bore rifle, six 9mm pistols, one 0.2 bore rifle, 99 pump actions, two shotguns, three 0.12 bore shotguns, one 0.25 bore pistol, 82 0.3 bore pistols, 10 revolvers and five Uzis. Malik said these dealers encouraged street crime by selling unlicensed arms.

Abdur Razzaq Cheema, the Investigation senior superintendent of police, and Umer Virk, the CIA superintendent of police, were also present at the press conference.
