ISLAMABAD: Tarnol police on Tuesday caught a gang of robbers and foiled two dacoity attempts in the process.

The police managed to arrest one of the suspects and recovered looted items from his possession.

The Tarnol police dispatched a patrol upon receiving complaint of a possible robbery in a workshop in Sangjani, an area in the outskirts of the city. On seeing the police patrol, the robbers fled from the scene and highjacked a taxicab from a nearby area. However, the police managed to arrest one of the suspected robbers, Abdul Qayyum, after a prolonged chase, while his accomplices managed to flee. Police impounded the cab and recovered nine stolen cell phones from his possession.

During investigation, Qayyum confessed to a number of mobile snatchings and armed robberies.

He told the police that his accomplices had made away with much of the looted money and valuables. Police registered two cases against the arrested suspect and his accomplices who were still at large.
