ABBOTTABAD: A day after she had been reported missing and a kidnapping case registered against a gatekeeper at a college, Abbottabad police have yet to track the whereabouts of the girl.

Officials, though, suggest that she eloped with the gatekeeper.

Y* had lodged a complaint with the Cantonment Police Station claiming that her daughter M*, a student of third year at the Government Postgraduate Girls College in Abbottabad had gone missing. The mother told police that the student had gone to college on Thursday but did not return home.

After conducting an extended search for her daughter, Y told police that someone in her family had told her that Asim, who served as a gatekeeper at the college and lived in the same area as M, had allegedly kidnapped her with the help of some unidentified accomplices.

Based on her complaint the police registered a case against Asim and his accomplices under section 365-B/34 of the PPC. They launched a search for the girl and her alleged abductors but were unable to track any whereabouts of the girl till Saturday.

Meanwhile, when approached for comments, the Cantonment Police told The Express Tribune that the girl had reportedly eloped with the suspected kidnapper and that the two had subsequently contracted court marriage.
