Justice delivered: Army chief signs death warrants of 10 terrorists

These hardcore militants were involved in attacks on soldiers: ISPR

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif on Tuesday confirmed death sentences awarded to another 10 “hardcore terrorists”, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The statement said the convicts were “involved in heinous offences related to terrorism, including the killing of innocent civilians, slaughtering of Captain Junaid Khan, Captain Najam Riaz Raja, Naik Shahid Rasool and Lance Naik Shakeel Ahmed of Special Services Group (SSG)”.

“They planned and executed attacks on the armed forces and law-enforcement agencies that resulted in the deaths and injuries to several soldiers.

“They were also involved in the destruction of educational institutions and communication infrastructure. Fire-arms and explosives were also recovered from their possession,” the ISPR statement said.

The ISPR shared the details of the convicts, which are as follows: Hanifa s/o Umar Zareen, who was an active member of the TTP, was involved in kidnapping and slaughtering of Captain Jonaid Khan, Captain Najam Riaz Raja, Naik Shahid Rasool and Lance Naik Shakeel Ahmed. He was also found in possession of explosives. The convict admitted his offences before the magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.

Tirah Gul s/o Khan and Muhammad Wali s/o Faulad Khan were active members of Lashkar-e-Islam. They were involved in attacking law-enforcement agencies and the armed forces which resulted in the deaths of Havildar Noor Mast, Naik Farman Ali, Naik Shabbir Akhtar, Sepoy Humayun, Sepoy Fakhar Alam, Sepoy Ismail and injuries to many other soldiers. These convicts admitted to their offences before the magistrate and the trial court. They were awarded death sentences.

Khaista Muhammad s/o Abdul Jalil was an active member of the TTP. He was involved in attacking the armed forces which resulted in the deaths of Havildar Muhammad Maqsood, Sepoy Rashid Ali, Sepoy Muhammad Waseem and injuries to a soldier.

He was also involved in the destruction of the Government Girls Primary School Zangi and a PTCL tower. The convict was found in possession of explosives. He admitted to his offences before the magistrate and the trail court. He was awarded death sentence.

Ali Rehman s/o Habib-Ur-Rehman, Fazal Ali s/o Fazal Wahid and Muhammad Ali s/o Abdul Rehman were active members of the TTP. They were involved in attacking law-enforcement agencies and the armed forces which resulted in the deaths of Havildar Munir Ahmed and Sepoy Sajid Khan and injuries to several soldiers. They were also found in possession of firearms and explosives. They admitted to their offences before the magistrate and the trial court. They were awarded death sentences.

Nisar Ali s/o Damsaz Khan, who was an active member of the TTP, was involved in attacking law-enforcement agencies which resulted in the deaths of Sepoy Fazal Malik and injuries to several soldiers of Frontier Constabulary and police officials. The convict was found in possession of firearms. He admitted to his offences before the magistrate and the trial court and was awarded death sentence.

Khial Jan s/o Sayel Jan was an active member of the Lashkar-e-Islam. He was involved in attacking law-enforcement agencies which resulted in the deaths of a civilian Abdullah, Khyber Khasadar soldier Sameed Khan and injuries to several other soldiers. He admitted to his offence before the magistrate and the trial court and was awarded death sentence. He was awarded death sentence.

Payo Jan s/o Asal Jan was an active member of Lashkar-e-Islam. He was involved in attacking the armed forces which resulted in the death of Sepoy Qasim Raza. He admitted to his offence before the magistrate and the trial court. He was awarded death sentence.
