LAHORE: The government has announced free public transport to reach cattle markets.

The Lahore Transport Company will ply a free transport service from September 6 to September 12, between 10am and 7pm.

Constant vigilance: Stringent checks in place on cattle entering Multan

The service will cover: Route 1: Yateem Khana Chowk to Shahpur Kanjran cattle market; Route 2: Chungi Amar Sidhu to DHA Phase 9 cattle market; Route 3: Shalamar Bagh to Al-Hafeez Garden Phase II cattle market; Route 4: railway station to Saggian cattle market on Hazrat Usman Ghani Road; Route 5: Johar Town’s Allah Hu Chowk to the Punjab Employees’ Cooperative Society Phase II cattle market, Block E Wapda Town Extension and College Road in Township; Route 6: Mozang to Saggian cattle market; and Route 7: Gaddafi Stadium to Gajjumata Audit and Accounts, Kaacha Road.

Earlier, three check posts set up by the Livestock Department at entrances to the Multan city, checked 91,462 animals last week, removed ticks and vaccinated them, a spokesman for the district administration said on Saturday.

“Check posts were set up at Shershah, Basti Malook and Qadir Pur Raan. Veterinary doctors and para-veterinary staff, equipped with medicines, and safety kits, checked every animal entering the city,” said Livestock District Officer Sibtain Bhatti. He said 503 trucks and pick-ups carrying animals were checked.
