KALLAR SAYEDAN: A protest demonstration was held here on Monday against the rising number of incidents of child abuse and rape in Kahuta.

The protesters, who gathered at Kallar Chowk Kahuta under the banner of local human rights protection cell, alleged that a gang of 20 persons backed by some influential individuals in the area was involved in molesting children and making and uploading their videos on social media to blackmail and extort money from their parents.

The protesters including Advocate Faisal, Advocate Raja Saeed, Raja Ghulam Haider and others alleged that the local police were protecting the culprits and shying away from laying a hand on the influential persons.

The protesters said that their complaints with the local police had become almost irrelevant.

Superintendent of Police Iftikharul Haq, meanwhile, held negotiations with the protesters and assured them that the culprits would be brought to book.

The SP also issued a show cause notice to the investigation officer with special directives to arrest the culprits.
