ISLAMABAD: Seriously injured patients visiting at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS)’s emergency complained shortage of paramedical staff to handle emergencies.
The Pims, one of the major hospitals of the capital, has been facing severe shortage of staff at its emergency to handle emergencies. Attendants claimed that they have to wait for hours to get serious patients admitted to the emergency as the existing paramedical staff
Abbas Ali, who was waiting at the emergency, said, “I received injuries in a road accident and a rescue 1122 team brought me to the hospital, some junior doctors examined me but afterwards they left me alone on the stretcher without providing any medical support.”
He said “I had to wait for hours and after several requests paramedical staff took me for medical checkup.
Another patient, Rahif Ahmad, said that the hospital needs to hire staff to handle emergencies timely.
“It is really excruciating for badly injured patients to wait for hours when they are in urgent need of medication.”
An official of the administration claimed best medical treatment was being provided to emergency patients by the paramedical staff.
