KARACHI: Holding its rival faction — Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H) — responsible for the death of its worker on Thursday night, the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) warned that if they lost their tempers, they might react strongly to the ongoing violence against them.

Party MNA Dr Farooq Sattar addressed a press conference on Friday, blaming the MQM-H for the attack. He termed it a ploy to destroy peace in the city, and urged the federal and provincial governments to take notice. “Some elements are supporting the Haqiqi terrorists, and taking advantage of our patience,” he alleged. Terming it the second incident of violence in Malir recently, the party said its workers were becoming victims of target killings. “Lawlessness in Landhi and Malir is on the rise. This is to sabotage the upcoming by-elections in Malir,” claimed Sattar. The MQM leader alleged that Haqiqi workers openly roam the area brandishing weapons. “After the killing of Fahad Zaki, we spoke to the corps commander, and two terrorists of Haqiqi were arrested. But two people have been killed now despite the authorities’ assurances,” he said.
