Police register FIR against nine MQM leaders
Haider Abbas Rizvi, Aamir Khan and Farooq Sattar, among others booked for violating loudspeaker act during party rally

The police have registered a case against nine leaders of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and nearly 2,000 'unknown MQM men' for violating the loudspeaker act.
On Thursday the MQM held a rally on MA Jinnah Road, Numaish Chowrangi, which falls within the Soldier Bazaar police limits, against the arrest of party workers, particularly during the Rangers raid at the party's sector offices on Wednesday where nearly a dozen workers, including the party's sector and unit in-charge, were arrested.

The case was registered at the Soldier Bazaar police station on behalf of the state late on Thursday night. The police also nominated nine MQM leaders, including Dr Farooq Sattar, Wasim Akhtar, Haider Abbas Rizvi, Nasreen Jalil, Muhammad Hussain, Kanwar Naveed Jamil, Faisal Subzwari, Kamal Pasha and also Wasey Jalil, who is currently in London. "In addition to the nomination of the nine MQM leaders, we have also registered a case against nearly 2,000 people belonging to the MQM," confirmed Soldier Bazaar SHO Irshad Soomro while talking to The Express Tribune.
"The FIR was registered against the MQM for harassing citizens, blocking roads, violating the loudspeaker act and violating Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure," he claimed. No arrests have been made.
This was the third such FIR registered under the loud speaker act, as earlier two similar cases were registered against the Pakistan-e-Tehreek-e-Insaf and Jamaat-e-Islami for holding rallies related to the forthcoming local bodies elections in Karachi at the main gate of Quaid-e-Azam's Mausoleum.
