LAHORE:
Having established a name in Karachi’s literary circles for their inimitable recital abilities and bringing back to life the tradition of daastaangoi, National Academy of Performing Arts graduates, Fawad Khan, Nazarul Hasan and Meesam Naqvi headed to Lahore for a session put together by Olomopolo Media.

Held at Dalaan in New Muslim Town, the event celebrated the age-old tradition with the aforementioned, and performers from the organising committee recited telltales from Tilism-e-Hoshruba and a selection of writer Ismat Chughtai’s short stories. With their lively readings and theatrical abilities, the performers lit up the faces of the audience that comprised both the young and old.The classical thematic of the recital did make comprehension a little difficult for some, yet the spell also worked its magic on them. “Although I did not understand most of the words,  I still enjoyed a lot during the dramatic recitation,” said university student Kiran. She said such events should be held regularly in order to provide healthy entertainment and an insight into Eastern tales, folklore and literature to the younger lot. Both the recitals were extremely well-received and the attendees hoped to see more of such events in the city.

When Othello and Macbeth didn’t get along

Talking on the occasion, Olomopolo Media Director and CEO Kanwal Khoosat said her organisation is committed to promote cultural activities in the city and around the country. “We periodically arrange plays, recitals and musical events in this regard,” she added.
