Launch campaign to catch offenders: IGP
Says special focus should be on murder suspects
PESHAWAR:
IGP Nasir Khan Durrani has directed subdivisional police officers (SDPO) to launch a result-oriented campaign against proclaimed offenders, especially those who are involved in murders.
He said this at a conference of SDPOs, which he was chairing. According to a handout, the conference was held at CPO in the city on Wednesday, which was attended by SDPOs from across the province. Additional IGP Headquarters Mian Muhammad Asif and Additional IGP for Investigation Qudratullah Marwat also attended the conference.
DIG Headquarters Muhammad Alam Shinwari updated the participants about the recently-introduced police reforms; establishment of new training centres and specialised police schools; use of technology; three security acts; and achievements gained against terrorists and other miscreants.
Going forward
According to the IGP, performance of all SDPOs would be evaluated in a board headed by regional police officers after mid-December. “Those who complete one year will be transferred keeping their performance in mind and those who complete three years will be transferred to another district,” he said.
The IGP directed SDPOs to adopt a diagnostic approach and police with a solution-oriented mindset. He asked them to ensure all citizens were treated with respect and courtesy, regardless of the accusation against them. The participants were also urged to acquire proficiency in recently-enacted laws and to ensure the said laws were being implemented in true letter and spirit.
Durrani told SDPOs to intensify their search-and-strike operations across the province with a special focus on motorbikes and vehicles without registration number plates.
Police officials were told to carry out informal inspections of their respective police stations. “You should call complainants and share progress of their cases with them,” he said.
