KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials’ meeting with their Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) counterparts ended without any public outcome as the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) continues to play the role of a facilitator to work out the best solution for the two arch-rival teams’ upcoming series deadlock.

With both boards now standing firm on their respective stances — India not willing to play in the UAE and Pakistan reluctant to travel to India — ECB Chairman Giles Clarke is searching for a middle path acceptable to both parties.

Reportedly, Sri Lanka is being considered for a short series between Pakistan and India, with three ODIs and two T20Is being proposed over a span of two weeks.

However, nothing has been announced officially, with PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan saying the matter will be discussed with the government before proceeding further.

“It was a fruitful discussion, but I need to ask our government, while [BCCI chief Shashank] Manohar will ask his government before taking any decision,” Shaharyar told reporters on his return from Dubai where the meeting took place.

He added, “Clarke welcomed us for discussions and acted as the facilitator in the meeting. Whatever happened in the discussion will be revealed by Clarke himself and I can’t comment on it any further.”
