Sum it up: Over 10,000 students compete in 11th math Olympiad

The management of PakTurk International Schools and Colleges organised the 11th Inter Schools Mathematics Olympiads (ISMO) on Sunday. According to a handout, the event is part of efforts since 1995 to provoke interest and knowledge among students.



At least 10,524 students of grade five to grade eight from private and government institutions participated in the competition held in 17 centres established in nine cities including Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar. The olympiad was held simultaneously in all venues while the result will be announced on December 8 on the group’s website.


Educationists from the various participating schools and colleges said the unique competition provides a great chance for students to showcase “their incredible potential and skills.” They said the best thing about the event was students from both government and private schools participate and win prizes.


The handout added overall first place winner will receive Rs40,000 while second and third runners up will receive Rs30,000 and Rs20,000 each, respectively. The total cash award will amount to Rs2 million. In K-P, the top position holders will get Rs10,000, Rs5,000, and Rs3,000.
