‘Factually incorrect’: NAB rejects report

Referring to a news item captioned “Land Scam: NAB Chief was part of team that approved purchase” published in a section of press on November 19, a spokesman of NAB has said the news item is factually incorrect, motivated to mislead and scandalous in nature. This is a matter of court record that the WAPDA chairman, while deposing in court, had categorically stated that Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, the then additional secretary commerce, was not involved in the purchase of land. It is further clarified that the same issue had already been decided by the Supreme Court in a May 18, 2011 judgment. In view of the apex court’s judgment, it is hoped such malicious and baseless reporting will be stopped forthwith, the NAB stated.
