Industrial consumers: LHC suspends 14% gas tariff hike
A lawyer, Shahid Ikram, filed a petition against the increase in the gas tariff
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday suspended recent 14 per cent increase in gas tariff for Industrial consumers and sought a reply from Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra). The single bench comprising Justice Mirza Viqas Rauf passed the orders on a petition challenging the notification of Ogra issued on November 15 for increase in gas prices. A lawyer, Shahid Ikram, filed a petition against the increase in the gas tariff and said the Ogra did not meet legal requirements before issuing the impugned notification. He said Ogra violated a mandatory public hearing before increasing the tariff.
