SHANGLA:
Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah’s helicopter turned back without landing in Shangla on Wednesday owing to a fuel shortage.
Shah was visiting quake victims in the region and was accompanied by PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira. This enraged a large number of party workers and residents.
Mohammad Alam, a PPP leader, told The Express Tribune, Shah had come to visit the affected population and should have acted appropriately.
“We hoped Shah would announce a relief package for the affectees,” he said. “But he retuned without landing.”
Waqar Ahmad Khan, a PTI leader in Shangla, condemned Shah’s behaviour.
“This is an affront to the people of Shangla,” he said. “Only PTI chief Imran Khan and the K-P are working for the welfare of the
quake victims.”
He added Shah had repeatedly blamed Imran for showing ignorance. “But today, he has shown the true face of his party,”
he added. Earlier, Shah had visited quake affectees in Swat, Timergara
and Buner.
