Army chief stresses need for resolution of Kashmir dispute

General Raheel Sharif emphasises Pakistan's perspective on regional security in his meeting with John Kerry

In his meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif highlighted on Thursday the need for resolution of the Kashmir dispute.



According to the ISPR, army chief, who is on a five-day official visit to the United States, discussed regional security with respect to India and Afghanistan, and the need for regional stability.

The military's media wing said General Raheel specifically emphasised Paksitan’s perspective on regional security, reiterating the country’s desire to strengthen and solidify Pak-US relations based on mutual interest and respect.




The US secretary of state acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions and sacrifices in the fight against terror, the ISPR statement added.

The COAS also discussed with Kerry the Afghan reconciliation process, its challenges, and the way forward.
