Petition: ‘Hospital workers beat my son’

Petitioner Shehnaz Bibi stated that her son, Babar Masih, drove an ambulance of the hospital

LAHORE:
An additional district and sessions judge sought comments on Wednesday from the Naseerabad SHO on a petition moved by a woman, seeking the registration of a case against a group of employees of the Children’s Hospital for allegedly beating up her son for refusing to bribe them. Petitioner Shehnaz Bibi stated that her son, Babar Masih, drove an ambulance of the hospital. “He takes bodies of patients who die at the hospital to their homes. A group of hospital staff, led by Lala Ashiq, extorts bribes to allow the bodies to leave the hospital. A week ago, my son was taking a body in an ambulance from the hospital when Ashiq, along with his henchmen, stopped him and demanded a bribe. When he refused to give them any money, they started beating him up,” she said. She said that the Naseerabad SHO had refused to register a complaint.
