ISLAMABAD:
A magistrate issued show-cause notice to investigation officer (IO) and station house officer (SHO) of the Secretariat police on Tuesday for failure to complete investigation in a case regarding violation of ban on use of loudspeakers.

Assistant Commissioner Waqas Rasheed also issued show-cause notices to IO Qaim Ali Shah and SHO Fayyaz Shinwari in a case registered against Asif Nazar aka DJ Butt, who rose to fame during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) sit-in last year.

The magistrate expressed displeasure over Shah’s failure to appear before the court on Tuesday.

He warned that an ex-parte decision will be taken if the IO did not appear before the court along with charge sheet on next date of hearing.

In his remarks, the court said prosecution was not taking the case in right direction as the IO has not yet investigated any of the PTI officials.

The state counsel was of the view that Butt has not made contact with the IO.

To this, the judge remarked that it is the duty of IO to investigate the matter and contact people. No one would voluntarily appear before him, he added.

Earlier, the court had ordered the police to investigate all suspects, including PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahirul Qadri, and several others for their alleged role.

The court had asked police to investigate all suspects nominated and submit a charge sheet but they failed to do so.

The case was adjourned till December 10.
