Operations SSP Irfanullah Khan on Monday recorded the statement of Law Minister Rana Sanaullah in the Bhola Gujjar murder case.

Sanaullah told the investigation officer that he was being falsely accused.

Convict claims killing a PML-N leader at Sanaullah’s behest

Bhola Gujjar was shot dead on January 9, 2015. An Anti-Terrorism Court had awarded death penalty to Naveed Commando and Nafees Goga and life sentences to Constable Tahir and Anjum Niaz in the case. Last month, Naveed claimed that he had killed Gujjar on Sanaullah’s orders.

“Proclaimed offender Sub-Inspector Rana Farrukh Waheed in connivance with Tahir, Niaz, Nafees and Naveed murdered Gujjar,” Sanaullah said. Sanaullah said that he had supported Gujjar’s family, the complainants in the case, and given them moral and legal support. “This annoyed the convicts and their ring leader Waheed. He is still at large and hiding in the United Kingdom. His arrest warrants have been issued by the Interpol,” Sanaullah said.

“The convicts had asked me not to help the complainants. When I refused, they started trying to blackmail me. This effort culminated in the latest statement of Naveed, which is concocted and baseless,” he said. He said that Naveed was playing in the hands of his political opponents. He said that he had neither contacted any of the convicts nor met them after the murder.

The statements of Ashraf Gujjar, a brother of the deceased, and Kashif Gujjar, the deceased’s son, were also recorded. They, too, denied charges levelled against Sanaullah. They said that the convicts were issuing baseless statements.
