Spreading awareness: Seminar held on road safety at UoP

Seeing their performance, I have no doubt road safety laws can be implemented in the entire country

PESHAWAR:
The prevalence of road accidents was discussed at a one-day seminar on road safety at Sir Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Hall in University of Peshawar on Monday. While addressing the participants of the seminar, speakers said that millions of people die each year in road accidents while many others are injured, resulting in permanent disabilities. The participants said vehicles laws in Pakistan are old. Except for Motor Vehicle Rules 1969, efforts have not been made for new legislation to fulfil the requirements. However, participants lauded the efforts of the motorway police, calling it a disciplined force that has managed highways very well. “Seeing their performance, I have no doubt road safety laws can be implemented in the entire country,” said IG Motorway Zubair Hashmi, who was present as the guest of honour.
