Caught in time: Cop arrested for attempted child abuse
A policeman was arrested on Monday on the charge of luring a child to a secluded place allegedly for the purpose of engaging in sexual activities.
The suspect, identified as Saleemuddin, was posted as a guard at the office of Additional Inspector General of Sindh Police, Mushtaq Mahar. The suspect has been taken into custody and an FIR on the complaint of the child's father has been registered against him, SHO Aslam Khakhrani of the Bilal Colony police station confirmed to The Express Tribune.
Sharing details of the complaint, SHO Khakhrani said that Saleemuddin had met the child on Friday near his school in New Karachi. The suspect bought the boy some books and other items, apparently to lure him. "The suspect asked the boy if he wanted to see pigeons. The naïve boy agreed."

When the boy went home, he related the entire incident to his father, who became suspicious. On Sunday, the boy's father and uncles accompanied him to see the policeman. The boy identified the policeman, who was then beaten up and taken to the police station for alleged child enticement. "It is not confirmed whether or not the suspect abused the child. Investigations are underway," the SHO added.
