A woman was kidnapped by armed men from the Qazi Lal Bux Kalwar village, within the Mirpur Mathelo police limits in district Ghotki, on Monday for marrying someone of her choice. The armed men injured her brother-in-law and stole valuables as well.

A group of armed men raided the village and broke into the house of Tahir Kalwar. They overpowered the residents and, at gunpoint, kidnapped Kalwar's wife, Zara. The kidnappers shot Kalwar's brother, Raza Muhammad, when he put up resistance and fled, while firing aerial shots.

The police shifted the injured to Civil Hospital, Mirpur Mathelo, where Raza claimed that Zara's father, Mir Muhammad Kalwar, and his accomplices, were behind the kidnapping. He alleged that, besides injuring him, the men also stole valuables and two motorcycles. The police have arrested two suspects but no case has been registered. A journalist claimed that, two years ago, Zara eloped with her cousin, Tahir.
