Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan accused Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of extracting personal gains by spending people’s money on metro projects.
“Nawaz Sharif has spent Rs150billion on metro projects instead of helping out poor farmers,” Imran said on Monday, while addressing his party workers in Mianwali, where the PTI chief is running an election campaign ahead of the second phase of local government (LG) elections.

The PTI chief said that no businessman should be allowed to enter politics, saying they use politics to aid their own businesses. “Nawaz comes in power to expand his business.”
Further, Imran said 70 per cent of Pakistan consists of villages where farmers work the whole day but the government only aids a small section of farmers instead of supporting poor farmers.
The PTI leader said that the ruling party had imposed 50 per cent general sales tax (GST) on diesel which resulted in the upsurge of prices, causing severe difficulties for poor farmers.
Imran said his party laid down the foundation of politics of principles in the country, claiming before PTI there was a small fraction of politicians which kept changing their allegiance with several political parties to rule over people.

PTI leader appreciated district police officer (DPO) Mianwali, saying he is performing his duties in line with professionalism. He further advised policemen and other government workers across the country to work with utmost sincerity.
“Police is being used to win elections in Sindh and Punjab but the same police in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is depoliticised and not being used for any personal or political gains,” he said.
Later, the PTI chief urged the people of Mianwali to show courage and vote for his party against the nexus of Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari which, he said, has led the Pakistan Steel Mills to the verge of bankruptcy.
Nawaz Sharif is working against interests of peasants: Imran
On Sunday, Imran had said that the incumbent prime minister was working against the interests of peasants in the country. “The fight against poverty starts from helping peasants and following this path our neighbour China restored 0.3 billion people from the line of poverty,” he said, while addressing an election rally in Mianwali.
“Poverty could only be eradicated if peasants and farmers were assisted by the government,” he added.
