Overcharging: Market committee inspector suspended
Onion prices were fixed between Rs55 and Rs60 per kg after an increase of Rs12 per kg in a week

Food Minister Bilal Yasin suspended a market committee inspector on Sunday for tampering with price lists at Shadman Sunday Bazaar after allegedly receiving a bribe. The minister also shut down a stall and fined the vendor for overcharging. Market committee Inspector Khalid Saddique was suspended on a citizen’s complaint and an inquiry was ordered against him. The minister said that if the inspector was found guilty of issuing doctored price lists and taking bribes, the case would be referred to the Anti-Corruption Department. Onion prices were fixed between Rs55 and Rs60 per kg after an increase of Rs12 per kg in a week. Potatoes were being sold between Rs32 and Rs35. The price of garlic increased to Rs140 per kg.
