Longstanding Rivalry: Councillor gunned down
The IO said Abbas was taken to a hospital where doctors had confirmed the demise of the deceased

Police said four motorcyclists had killed a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) councillor late on Friday in Sabzazar area. IO Khalil Ahmed said Ferozewala resident Abbas, who had been elected unopposed from a UC there in the second phase of the local government elections, was travelling on his motorcycle when the men intercepted him on Multan Road and shot him. Ahmed said they had later fled. The IO said Abbas was taken to a hospital where doctors had confirmed the demise of the deceased. Police said Abbas’s body had been sent to a mortuary for autopsy. Officials said a case had been registered against Salman and Asad Bashir in connection with the incident. IO Ahmed said the deceased had had a longstanding rivalry with the two. He said they had lodged cases against one another in the past.
