DERA GHAZI KHAN:

Police on Saturday sent back a convoy of 300 pilgrims from Hangu, Kohat and Parachinar who were on their way to Iran through Dera Ghazi Khan. They were stopped at the Ghazighat Checkpost. When they failed to produce relevant documents, they were sent back.A police spokesman said a convoy of three buses reached Ghazighat Check post at 1pm on Saturday. He said they were stopped by a police team headed by Sajjad Ahmad Mughal.

He said when Mughal asked them to produce travel documents, they failed to produce a mandatory NOC and permission from Balochistan government. The spokesman said the buses were asked to return on the instructions of Dera Ghazi Khan DPO Ghulam Mubashir Maikan.

Last month, buses carrying pilgrims were targeted in Balochistan by terrorists. The government had then banned movement of such convoys without permission from the Balochistan government and the Interior Ministry.
