Man of the match Kumar Sangakkara was the star of the show for Shane Warne’s Warriors against Sachin Tendulkar’s Blasters in the second T20 of the Cricket All-Stars Series at the Minute Maid Park in Houston to take the three-match series 2-0.

The former Sri Lankan wicketkeeper scored 70 off just 30 balls, with six fours and six sixes, as the Warriors took the Blasters bowlers to the cleaners.

Warne’s side were able to set their opponents an almost impossible to chase the target of 263 in their 20 overs, as all of their batsmen were in ominous form.

None of the bowlers for Tendulkar’s side were able to curtail the haemorrhage of runs, with Graeme Swann’s 40-1 in four overs being the most economical at 10-an-over. Legends such as Shoaib Akhtar (48-0 in four overs), Glenn McGrath (28-1 in two overs), Shaun Pollock (32-0 in two overs) and Muttiah Muralitharan (46-0 in four overs) were all at the receiving end of some fearsome beatings from the Warriors.

The result of the exhibition match was all but academic when the Blasters came out to bat but they did provide the crowd with a lot to cheer for as they too managed to cross the 200-run mark in their 205-8.

Pollock gave as good as he got, with the former South Africa skipper smashing 55 off just 22 balls, heaving a whopping seven sixes along the way.

Andrew Symonds, who had earlier played a devastating cameo of 19 runs off six balls, was surprisingly the highest wicket-taker of the match with four to his name, but the former Australia all-rounder leaked 70 in his four overs.

Former Pakistan off-spinner Saqlain Mushtaq was the pick of the bowlers though as he showed that the magic has not left him, finishing with impressive figures of 2-12 in three overs, which boasted the major scalps of Tendulkar and Mahela Jayawardene.
