Pakistan veteran batsman and highest Test scorer Younus Khan has announced his retirement from the 50-over format, and the first ODI between Pakistan and England at Abu Dhabi will be his final match in colours for Pakistan, Express News reported.

Earlier, Younus was controversially included in the ODI team, after his consistent run of good performances in the longest format of the game.

The 37-year-old had wanted to leave the format on a high after he was selected in the 16-man squad for the four-match series against England despite patchy form.

Going into his last match, Younis has scored 7,240 runs with seven hundreds and 48 half-centuries in one dayers.

"He will retire from one-day cricket after Wednesday's game and he has conveyed this to us," team manager Intikhab Alam told AFP.

He was dropped from the ODI team after poor performances in the 2015 World Cup, in which he only managed to score 37 runs in three matches, with an average of just 14.33 with the bat.

Younus made his debut back in 2000 against Sri Lanka at National Stadium Karachi, and have so far represented Pakistan in 264 ODI’s, scoring 7,240 runs with an average of 31.34, with a highest of 144 against Hong Kong in 2004.
