LAHORE:

Lahore High Court on Tuesday overruled an objection placed by the office of the LHC registrar on a petition against the cancellation of the Iqbal Day holiday and fixed it for hearing. The registrar’s office had placed an objection on the petition as it was submitted without a copy of the notification in question. Petitioner Farhad Ali Shah said the Ministry of Interior had cancelled holiday through a notification. He said the government had not revealed any reason behind the decision. Shah said every Pakistani had the inalienable right to mark Iqbal Day in a befitting manner. He said the government could not put an end to this.  Justice Khalid Mahmood Khan overruled the objection and directed the petitioner to submit in the court a copy of the notification before the next hearing.
