Raising awareness : World Pneumonia Day on Nov 12
This makes pneumonia the number one killer of children under five
ISLAMABAD:
The seventh annual world pneumonia day would be observed on November 12 to raise awareness and promote intervention to protect against, treat, and prevent pneumonia, which continues to be a global public health concern. Each year approximately 900,000 children aged 5 years die from pneumonia worldwide. It is a preventable and treatable disease that affects 155 million children under five and kills 1.6 million each year. This makes pneumonia the number one killer of children under five, claiming more young lives than AIDS, malaria, and measles combined.
