Rangers have been made part of the special force formed to provide security to polio workers administering door-to-door oral polio vaccines in Karachi.



Several volunteers and policemen have been attacked while performing duties as part of polio teams in various areas of the metropolis, including Sohrab Goth, Korangi, Landhi, Baldia and Orangi Town, during the last couple of months.


Disease eradication: Polio vaccination drive starts Wednesday

A total 872 Rangers were deployed for security duty in three districts of Karachi on Tuesday, said a statement issued by the Rangers. Their spokesperson added that the Rangers were providing security to the polio teams with 60 Rangers mobiles and 98 motorcycle squads. In district East, 108 troops on eight mobiles and 11 motorcycle squads, in district West, 664 Rangers personnel on 44 mobiles and 78 motorcycle squads and 100 troops with eight mobiles and nine motorcycle squads performed their duties in in district South.
