National Hero: Lawyers want Iqbal Day holiday restored

The Lahore Bar Association (LBA) demanded that the government restore the public holiday

LAHORE:
Lawyers went on a strike in Lahore on Monday to protest against the abolition of Iqbal Day holiday on November 9. They boycotted lower court proceedings. Punjab Bar Council Vice Chairperson Farrukh Ijaz Baig said the government’s announcement in this regard made no sense. The Lahore Bar Association (LBA) demanded that the government restore the public holiday. Representatives of the LBA, including its president Chaudhry Ishtiaq, made the demand at a function arranged at Aiwan-i-Adl to pay tribute to Allama Iqbal. District and Sessions Judge Bahadur Ali Khan and several members of Punjab Bar Council were also present.
