LAHORE:
The University of Education (UoE) is going to recruit 10 professors. Currently, the university has only two professors, including the vice chancellor.

The university has campuses at Attock, Bank Road Lahore, Lower Mall Lahore, Township Lahore, Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad, Jauharabad, Multan, Okara, and Vehari. The university offers two PhD programmes (in education and Urdu), and seven MPhil programmes.

The only professor at the UoE other than the vice chancellor is Dr Muhammad Aminuddin, the Dera Ghazi Khan campus principal.

Currently, there are three directors employed for each division. Dr Ayaz Muhammad Khan is the principal and director of the Division of Arts and Social Sciences, Dr Intezar Hussain Butt is the Division of Education director and Dr Abrar Hussain is the Division of Science and Technology director. Under UoE regulations, all the directors should be professors.

Vice Chancellor Rauf-i-Azam said that the university was facing a severe shortage of professors, which affected its administrative and academic environment. “Recognising these problems, all available posts have been advertised,” he said.

“The directors are required to be professors. Because there were no professors available, junior staff was given the charge. After the hiring process is completed, the charge will be given to professors,” he said.

Dr Rauf said that he could not give an exact date for the completion of the hiring process. “The hiring process, especially for senior positions, can be a lengthy affair.

After the process of scrutiny and expert evaluation, the selection committee will send its recommendations for approval to the syndicate of the university,” he said.
