The department of Szabist Model United Nations (ZabMun) Social Responsibility in collaboration with Global Zero and Hot FM 105 organised the first-ever Nasra MUN.
"Everyone here is a superstar," said Szabist president Shahnaz Wazir Ali as she addressed the ZabMun members and Nasra MUN delegates. She spoke in honour of her beloved mother, Nasra Wazir Ali, who founded the first Nasra school that began with merely two rooms, a few tables and chairs, a piano and a handful of children. Her vision over the years has moulded Nasra into the institute that it is today, she said, adding that it is educating 11,500 students every year in campuses spread across Karachi. Ali's address was followed by speeches from ZabMun president Talha Khan and ZabMun faculty adviser Kumail Raza Hemani. Both speakers encouraged the delegates to take the MUN platform as an opportunity to learn and discuss prevalent issues and resolutions.
The chief guest at the opening ceremony was Haneen Khalid, a representative of Global Zero - South East Asia. She spoke on how the young delegates are capable of making a difference and can play a significant role in presenting solutions for global and local issues.
