LG polls: PML-N, JI fail to work out seat adjustment plan
Decision was taken on Monday after local leaders from both the parties failed to agree on the seat adjustment formula
ISLAMABAD:
After failing to work out a seat adjustment plan ahead of the upcoming local government polls in Islamabad, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) have decided to contest elections separately.
The JI was represented by Zubair Farooq Khan, Muhammad Kashif Chaudhry and Khalid Bhatti while the PML-N was represented by MNA Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Anjum Aqeel, Malik Abrar and Sajid Abbasi. Earlier, an agreement had been reached between the two parties over 16 seats of chairman and vice chairman and the PML-N had agreed not to field candidates on seats of chairman and vice chairman. But the PML-N candidates did not take back their papers, which led the JI to contest the elections independently.
