
Police officials said that weapons were being provided to the criminals from Sindh and Balochistan. Dera Ghazi Khan Resident Police Officer (RPO) Mubarak Ahmed, Bahawalpur RPO Abid Qadiri and Sukkur RPO Zulfiqar Ali have been cooperating in this regard and said that police teams had now surrounded several villages in Rahim Yar Khan and were questioning people door to door about the whereabouts of the kidnappers. “Over the past two months there have been over 46 kidnappings for ransom in the RYK district alone,” RPO Ali said, adding that the Sindh government would extend full cooperation in this regard. “We have also commissioned a helicopter to reach interior Sindh and the forests to look for the criminals,” he said. RYK police officials said that most of the kidnappers had escaped across the border and were hiding in interior Sindh, Sukkur and Ghotki.
