Anti-corruption team raids Civil Hospital, Sukkur

SUKKUR: A team of the anti-corruption establishment, Sukkur, raided on Saturday Civil Hospital, which is also the teaching hospital of Ghulam Mohammad Mahar Medical College, Sukkur, and took records into custody besides sealing its X-ray room.

After going through the records of the hospital, including local purchases and establishment of burns ward and thalassaemia centre, the team, led by the DSP Rana Ayaz, took the records into custody.

During the visit to the X-ray room, the team was informed by the patients that Rs50 is being charged by the staff for each X-ray. On this complaint, the team reportedly sealed the X-ray room and seized its records. On this occasion, DSP Rana Ayaz told journalists that during the inspection of the medical store of the hospital, many expired medicines were also found, which is simply intolerable.

He said that raids on the government hospitals are aimed at checking the records of development works, local purchase, attendance of the staff and the facilities being provided to the patients. He further said that a huge quantity of expired medicines has been found during the raid and if any corruption is revealed after going through the record, not only a case will be registered, but arrests will be made as well.
