Teachers learn new educational methods at SPELT Conference
This year, the conference focused on English language teachers' traditions and innovations

More than 1,000 teachers and students from various academic institutions exhibited their desire to learn about literature and language at the 31st Society of Pakistan English Language Teachers (SPELT) International Conference, which began on Saturday at Habib Public School. The two-day international conference features sessions with national and international speakers on the importance of teaching, language, methods of reading and essential skills for teachers. This year, the conference focused on English language teachers' traditions and innovations. "At a time 24 sessions on different topics are being held at the conference with expert instructors," said conference coordinator, Lubna Mohyuddin. For the past several years, the SPELT Conference has included innovative strategies of teaching Urdu at the grassroots level. Recently added features to the conference are the 'Webinars', which will be conducted by overseas experts from different universities and organisations including Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) USA, IATEFL and TESOL UK.
