Wheat Crop: Punjab govt prepares for sowing season
Punjab govt also provided wheat seeds worth Rs300 million to farmers hailing from 28,860 villages in the province

The Punjab government has set 19.5 million tonnes wheat sowing target in the province. According to Agriculture Information Assistant Director Naveed Asmat Kahloon, there was immense potential for enhancing per-acre wheat yield in the province. He stated that the agriculture department had recommended different seed varieties for cultivation. Kahloon further said that over 126,000 farmers had been imparted special training to use latest agricultural machinery in order to enhance yield. The incumbent government was also offering Rs500 and Rs218 subsidy on each bag of DAP and nitrophosphate fertiliser, respectively. Similarly, the Punjab government also provided wheat seeds worth Rs300 million to farmers hailing from 28,860 villages in the province. He claimed that the government’s measures would surely help bring down input cost and increase output.
