Corruption charges: NAB arrests former K-Electric official

KARACHI:
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) claims to have arrested a former senior official of the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC), now known as K-Electric. The suspect was identified as Muhammad Akram Arain, a former KESC senior assistant engineer, said the NAB spokesperson in a statement issued on Friday. Arain was arrested on charges of accumulation of assets beyond his sources of income. He purchased various properties during and after his service in KESC, pointed out the spokesperson. During the investigation, it was revealed that Arain embezzled more than Rs36 million, he claimed. The accused was presently running a property consultancy firm, alBurq Enterprises, he added.
