Full court reference: Justice Manzoor Malik’s services lauded

LAHORE:

“Improvement in the judicial system requires concerted efforts by both lawyers and judges,” said Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik on Wednesday.

He was addressing a ceremony organised by the Punjab Bar Council (PbBC). The chief justice said he had visited districts across the Punjab and had held meetings with bar associations from far flung areas. He said shortage of judges had been a serious problem which he had focused on. “As many as 373 civil judges and 79 additional and district sessions judges have been appointed to take up pending cases,” he said.

Justice Sardar Tariq Masood said most lawyers were serious about their work but a tiny majority continued to clash with judges over petty matters. He said lawyers and judges should come together to serve the public.

Chief Justice Designate Justice Ijazul Ahsan praised the services of Chief Justice Manzoor Malik and Justice Sardar Tariq Masood. PbBC Vice Chairperson Farah Ejaz Baig and Executive Committee Chairman Ghulam Nassoana also spoke on the occasion.

Justice Ijazul Ahsan congratulated Chief Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik and Justice Sardar Tariq Masood on their nomination as judges of the Supreme Court.

Justice Ahsan said that the elevation was richly deserved after years dedicated services.

He said the chief justice had introduced effective judicial reforms.  He said Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik had modernised the legal system by adopting an innovative and progressive approach.
