Quota: Deaf association demands jobs
A bigger protest will be launched on November 23 against the provincial government
MINGORA:
Swat Deaf Association protested against the government for not including them in the 5% jobs quota for minorities. Protesters were holding banners inscribed with slogans against government departments and demanding fair representation in the workforce. Led by Yousaf Ali Shah, president of the association, protesters gathered in front of Swat Press Club. Shah told journalists, “People with disabilities are still not considered members of society. They are not given equal opportunities.” He said the association sent multiple applications addressing CM Pervez Khattak. “We are still not included in the quota for government jobs despite promises from the CM,” he added. General Secretary Shamsur Rahman, also known as Babu, said their demand for job quota extends to government and private sector jobs. A bigger protest will be launched on November 23 against the provincial government.
