Mysterious circumstances: Two bodies recovered from Charsadda

At least two bodies, including the remains of a man who had gone missing earlier this week, were found in Charsadda on Sunday.
In the first incident, the body of a man identified as Dilawar was dumped in a field in Matta Mughal Khel. Locals informed the police and the body was shifted to the hospital for an autopsy after which it was handed over to the family.
A local told The Express Tribune the deceased had mysteriously disappeared on Thursday. “His remains were found by locals in a field nearby,” he said. “It is believed Dilawar’s body was dumped in the area after he was killed.”
Up in arms
Later in the day, a large number of residents – including the deceased’s relatives – held a protest at Shabqadar Chowk. They shouted slogans against the police and voiced their objections over failure to investigate the cause and manner of Dilawar’s death.
Speaking on the occasion, Shabqadar tehsil nazim Zafar Ali Khan said the government was collecting taxes from citizens but was not fulfilling its obligation to protect them.
The protesters said a police force that could not bring down the crime rate was of no use to them. They warned the government of severe consequences if the culprits were not arrested within 24 hours. Locals also demanded Shabqadar SHO Ali Jan Khan and Hikmat Shah, another official, should be transferred owing to their poor performance.
Remains found
Another body was recovered in Turlandi area of Tangi. According to a police official, a mobile phone and CNIC were found from the deceased’s pocket.
“He has been identified as Mudasir, a resident of Urmar,” he said. “We have handed over his body to his family after completing all legal requirements.”
