Medical education: Principals, faculty for three new colleges

Teaching hospitals also attached to Sialkot, Sahiwal and Gujranwala colleges.

The Health Department has appointed principals and faculty members to three new medical colleges in south Punjab and attached teaching hospitals to them.

According to the notification, Prof Dr Tanvir Ali Khan Sherwani will serve as principal of Sialkot Medical College. Dr Shahzaman Latif and Dr Liaqat Ali have been appointed as professors, Dr Ibrahim Khan as assistant professor, and Dr Ijaz Anwar, Dr Khawar Iqbal, Dr Abdul Rehman and Dr Faraz Qadeer as demonstrators.

Prof Dr Zameer Ahmad has been appointed principal of Sahiwal Medical College, while Dr Shahbaz Ashfaq and Dr Ishtiaq Ahmad have been appointed as professors, Dr Bashir Ahmad Janjua and Dr Shafiqur Rehman as assistant professors, and Dr Razia Rizwan, Dr Shahbaz Sharif, Dr Shafqat Rasool, Dr Rizwan Ahmad, Dr Saima Naz, Dr Arrona Khalid, Dr Shabir Hussain, Dr Amina Safdar, Dr Samina Kouser and Dr Madiha Chaudhry as demonstrators.


Prof Dr Atia Mubarak has been appointed principal of Gujranwala Medical College, Dr. Muhammad Amin, Dr Alamgir Rana and Dr Saqib Suhail as assistant professors, and Dr Nasir Majeed, Dr Hifza Ryasat, Dr Muhammad Ikram, Dr Umer Aslam, Dr Asifa Ashraf, Dr Noorul Mubin and Dr Madiha Rehman as demonstrators.

The Health Department attached Allama Iqbal Memorial Hospital and Sardar Begum Hospital with Sialkot Medical College, DHQ Hospital Gujranwala with Gujranwala Medical College, and DHQ Sahiwal and Haji Abdul Qayyum Memorial Hospital with Sahiwal Medical College as teaching hospitals.

According to the notification, the first year students of Dera Ghazi Khan Medical College, another new college, will study at Quaid-e-Azam Medical College Bahawalpur until the campus at DG Khan is completed.
