In a daring move, Iranian actress Sadaf Taherian uploaded pictures on Facebook and Instagram with her hair uncovered as sign of protest against the strict hijab laws of Iran. Her bold opposition immediately forced her to flee her country.

"I was nervous and worried about how people would react to my photos," she said in an online interview with Masih Alinejad on her show Tablet.

“When I wore the hijab on screen I did it for the love of my career and the demand of the film. I want to live in a place and live the way that makes me happy,” she added.

Sadaf was forced to flee to the UAE. Another leading Iranian actress, Chekame Chaman-Mah, caused further controversy by coming out in support of Sadaf by posting her own photos on Instagram with her hair dyed red. She is also believed to have fled Iran, reports Telegraph.
