Cancer awareness: 1 in 9 women at risk of breast cancer

A large number of lady health workers were invited to attend the seminar to help spread awareness in the rural areas

HYDERABAD:
Around 90,000 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in Pakistan every year, with a mortality rate of over 40 per cent. Speaking at an event to mark International Mammography Day, organised by the Nuclear Institute of Medicine and Radiotherpay, director Dr Naeem Laghari stressed on the need for early diagnosis to save lives. He shared an estimate, according to which one in every nine women in Pakistan is likely to suffer from breast cancer at some point in their life. A large number of lady health workers were invited to attend the seminar to help spread awareness in the rural areas.
