Roundup: Red-hot at the Mumbai Film Fest

The launch of the 17th Jio MAMI Mumbai International Film Festival took place at the Gate of India last night. The grand opening saw a bevy of Bollywood stars walking the red carpet with attendance akin to that at any Bollywood awards night. Mainstream actors Kangana Ranaut, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif looked ravishing as they attended the event, expressing their support for independent filmmakers.

Bhatt made a ‘shaandaar’ entry wearing an Isabel Sanchis strapless gown. Although she was one of the better dressed on the red carpet, this was not Bhatt’s best look. The cutesy actor has been making promotional rounds wearing quirky, off-beat designs, but with heavy pink bronzer and the proper hairdo, this look lacked oomph. The look longed for a bit of youthfulness. Perhaps a messy updo or quirky clutch would’ve done the trick.

Katrina Kaif

The actor looked ‘bang banggin’ hot on the red carpet in an Anamika Khanna ensemble, which included an embellished bralet, a similarly adorned capelet and a high-waisted skirt, baring her toned midriff. Jacqueline Fernandez wore a similar look at the IIFA’s and both ladies looked gorgeous. Her big earrings, and simple hair and make-up elevated her to knockout status. We only wish she’d picked open-toe shoes instead of pointed ones.

Kangana Ranaut

The reigning queen of Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut, hit it out of the park with this Ashi Studio number. The gown cinched in perfectly at her waist and showed her worked out décolletage. The bottom of the gown featured beautiful embellishments in the same colour, which toned down the look. Ranaut kept her make-up light and wore her hair up to complete this classy and chic look.
