Five killed as fire engulfs makeshift huts in Karachi

Many others injured as fire from one hut spreads to settlements close by

At least five people were killed and seven others others injured as their makeshift huts caught fire in Karachi's Gulistan-e-Jauhar area on Thursday.

According to Express News, the persons were burned to death as a man in the huts was making food when fire erupted and engulfed many other closeby settlements.

Two fire brigades rushed to the scene and defused the flames, while the process of cooling was still under way.

Ambulances shifted the injured to a nearby hospital.

Mystery fire burns down 50 makeshift huts

Rescue workers said they were removing the rubble of the huts.

Earlier on February 25, fire in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 13-D burnt at least 50 makeshift huts set up on an empty plot near Mehar Ali Shaheed police check post, causing injuries to two people.
