Raising awareness: World Stroke Day commemorated today
The campaign has been organised by Pakistan Stroke Society
KARACHI:
World Stroke Day 2015 is being commemorated today (October 28). This year’s theme is ‘I am Woman and Stroke Affects Me’ to draw attention towards the global epidemic of health problems affecting women. Dr Zakia Aurangzaib, a senior gynecologist, said birth control pills, hormone replacement after menopause and diabetes are sex-specific risk factors that enhance the stroke vulnerability among women. The campaign has been organised by Pakistan Stroke Society.
